6 Fun Activities for Your Adult Girl Squad: No Clubbing Required
Are you and your girl squad looking for fun ways to bond that don’t involve crowded clubs, noisy bars, or wearing uncomfy heels all night? As adults, sometimes the work week takes so much of our energy and, while getting dressed up to go out IS fun, it can feel like a second job. Whether you’re seeking relaxation, creativity, or just quality time with friends, these activities are perfect for women in their late 20s, 30s, and beyond. Embrace your Gen Z/millennial lifestyle and create lasting memories with these unique ideas. This post is all about fun activities for your adult girl squad that DON’T require going to the club!

1. attend a Candle Making Class
Round up your girls and bring out your inner artisan by attending a candle-making class. These types of classes are super popular,! I found out about AR Workshop, a local spot in town that offers them through a simple Google Search. It turns out that this franchise is located all over the U.S., so you may find a workshop near you. In your class, you’ll be able to choose how many candles you want to make and what scents you like. You can do a single scent or a combination of one or more. The whole process is therapeutic and great for conversations with your girls! You’ll not only walk away with beautifully scented candles but also with memories that last.

2. have a DIY Spa Day
Transform your living room into a luxurious spa with homemade face masks, bath salts, and body scrubs. Put on some relaxing music, light candles, and sip on some herbal tea, cucumber water, or a cocktail if you’re feeling fancy. You can even exchange massages or mani-pedis. A spa night is not only one of the most budget-friendly activities for your adult girl squad but also promotes wellness and self-care—something every millennial deserves because let’s face it…life has been for life-ing for us!
3. enjoy a Volunteer Day
Studies show that late millennials and emerging Gen Zs have increased levels of empathy versus previous generations. It makes sense because although we sort of got dealt a bad hand (high housing, low pay with jobs, student loans….shall I go on?) we are still a part of the generation that cares for others. What better way to show your compassion for the world than a volunteer day with your girls? You can serve at a local shelter, participate in a park cleanup, or help out at a food bank. Check out these pics I took on my recent volunteer day!

4. have an Adult arts + crafts night
Who says arts and crafts are only for kids?! Whether you’re painting, scrapbooking, or trying your hand at DIY home decor, crafting is a fantastic way to relax and express yourself. My favorite activity I’ve picked up in the last few years is going to a sip and paint. This is something you can do right in the comfort of your home with your girl squad. Pull up a photo on your TV or iPad, get all of your materials from your local craft store, and tell everyone to bring their favorite bottle of wine! You can even follow along with YouTube tutorials to try something new together.
5. Start a book club
Did your list of New Year resolutions include reading more books? Mine did! For an even more laid-back experience, start a book club with your adult girl group. Choose a book that resonates with your squad’s interests, and meet up for cozy discussions over snacks and drinks. You can make it extra fun by rotating hosts or incorporating themed food and drinks based on the book. My girls and I recently read Curvy Girl Summer by Danielle Brown and I really enjoyed it!
6. Host a friendly cocktail competition
Who needs a bartender at the club when you can host a DIY cocktail competition at home? Have each squad member create a signature cocktail, and then take turns sampling and voting for the best one. You can add fun themes like tropical drinks or holiday favorites to spice things up. Don’t drink alcohol? Mocktail options are just as exciting and inclusive. This activity is a fantastic way to get creative and try something new together. My good girlfriend hosted one of these for her birthday a couple of years ago and it was a lot of fun. I take competition very seriously so I am happy to announce that my cocktail (Maria’s Mai Tai, pictured below) was the WINNER! *Takes a bow*
Ditch the long lines and loud clubs and embrace more meaningful ways to connect with your girl squad. These six activities are perfect for millennials and GenZs who want to balance fun, creativity, and relaxation. Whether you’re making candles, crafting cocktails, or volunteering, you’ll build memories that strengthen your friendships and make your 20s and 30s unforgettable.
